Free Early Years Education Entitlement (FEYE)

The Free Early Years Entitlement (FEYE) is available to all three and four year old children from the first term after their third birthday. It means that your child is entitled to receive up to 15 hours free early years education per week.

The FEYE funds a maximum of 15 hours per week usually for 38 weeks per year, over three terms. The terms are:

  • Summer Term – 12 weeks
  • Autumn Term  – 14 weeks
  • Spring Term – 12 weeks

How many hours does the nursery education grant cover?

15 hours per week term-time only.

The maximum hours of childcare available for a summer term is 180 hours
The maximum hours of childcare available for a autumn term is 210 hours
The maximum hours of childcare available for a spring term is 180hours

Claiming and Payment of Grants

The local education authority pays the grant directly to Nursery at the beginning and the end of the term. The Nursery will then refund you monthly on you monthly, this amount is clearly shown for your records on a termly invoice.

Government Grant Review

The Government are currently reviewing the extension of the grant and are currently trialling the idea of offering 2 year olds the grant facility as well.
